Check out this interactive web experience. Imagine interactive loops for worship. The user could move their mouse around and control the speed and movement of the loop (live) depending on the mood of the song. That would be sick! Or what if the lead singer of the worship band were controlling it while they are singing?

That WOULD be sick! I’ve always wondered what would happen if the music worship leader was also controlling the visuals…
Yeah. That link I posted (“lead singer”) is unbelievable. Trent Reznor is a genius no doubt! If you watch the video of the live performance, it’s mind boggling to think he’s controlling the visuals based on where he is standing on the stage!!!
What if it was like a light chaser and sound activated? That wouldn’t be that hard.
That is sick!
With interactive video programs becoming so frequent, (EyesWeb, vvvv, Isadora) It isn’t hard to imagine these technologies becoming the “norm” in churches across america. In fact my own team has started diving into the possibilities of this in our own church.
I have been researching the technology and while it might seem like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to some, for others it seems quite common and its very exciting to be playing with this kind of technology.
I just hope I can get my head around it before someone else capitalizes on this.
NIIIIICE! More info Samuel? What church are you with?
[...] Barton Damer of Igniter, Echo, Collide and even Catalyst fame has a new blog of his own, Already Been Chewed. [...]
Samuel, et. al: the art, science, and craft of VJ’ing is going to intersect with worship design (already happening). It’s just a matter of time, and for craftsmen like us to dive in.
I recently had a great email discussion with Peter Kirn at Create Digital Motion about this – it wasn’t on his radar. These two communities of artists don’t mingle much, and don’t know much about each other.
I write about such things on my blog (here), and VJ Proctor has just started http://www.worshipvj.com. Worth a read.
Now, if I could only get Processing apps into ProPresenter… right now I’m stuck using Quartz Comps, which I haven’t learned yet.
Pretty soon, we’ll be controlling interactive media with your iPhone and this. W00t!
Wouldn’t it be cool if each instrument was routed to control a certain element of the visualizer. The kick drum would inspire on screen thudding, overall volume to brightness, and guitar rhythm to the rate of change. Add lights controlled by these parameters and you’ve got a spectacular show. Does this exist already??
I recently started using fun.ly to track all my affiliate links, you ought to try it out.
Thanks for posting to this site, very interesting, in the large part
