Who knows what the iPad will do for designers… could be big. On the one hand, it seems kind of pointless to recreate the reading experience of paper on a digital platform like Kindle or iPad. On the other hand, some people just wanna read… and read fast. I don’t know what the future of print will be… but I’m happy to create experiences like this for the iPad or any other platform! What do you think? Cool? Useful?

Yeah. That's interesting. It's feels more like an interactive flash site. That can be good and bad.
My thought is that iPads and technology like it will probably do a good deal to save the frequent print business. People are buying fewer newspapers, etc. It just means that print companies will have to adopt a lot more production services/costs. Which is great for people in our industry, a lot of jobs will start popping up.

You could be way ahead of the game if you started doing stuff like this. Imagine reading a book fully illustrated like this. that would change everything.

As far as being ahead… yeah. it's really no different in the way it has to be created… it's all the same as regular video/motion compositing – just has different dimensions.
What do you think they created this with?
Well… the production is pretty big and probably involved after effects (or a flame machine), a 3d program (like C4d or Max) along with editing software. Is that what you mean?
dont forget some overly expensive tracking software like Boujou
