“… design can single-handedly make a message or cause compelling. Whether you admit it or not, your product or service will only succeed if people are engaged by it.” – Scott Belsky

Scott is the founder/CEO of the very successful Behance network. A while ago, he wrote a great post about how NON-PROFITS SHOULD FOCUS MORE ON DESIGN. Read the whole post HERE. In short, there are a lot of non-profits and businesses that view design as a luxury when more often than not it should be viewed as a necessity.

Imagine PF Changs if it looked more like Gao’s Chinese Buffet. Regardless of how tasty Gao’s probably is… I’ll never know… and neither will you. Â Sure, there is the rare situation like Pat’s in Philadelphia. It looks super sketchy but tastes great. The problem is, you really have to be brave to figure that out. Don’t make what you have to offer a local secret and test of bravery, present it in a way that represents well.

thanks for that. really great thoughts man.

  2. So true. I'm sure there are a lot of great restaurants, businesses, websites, etc. out there that I will never experience simply because of the design…or lack of. Great analogy!
