KOBEN: My sidekick

My son, Koben, just turned 9 at the end of October. Ever since he was born, he’s been a daddy’s boy. When he was very young, he would crawl to the window every day as I left work and cry as I would leave. Naturally, weekend trips to the skate park included Koben from a very young age. He goes with me pretty much everywhere to skate. When he cannot skate with Daddy, he’s finger boarding (tech decking) at home on my desk – usually right where my mouse needs to move around!
He loves finger boarding because “it’s a lot safer” he says. When he was young he saw me have to go through knee reconstruction and it probably freaked him out a bit. Either way, Tech decks weren’t really around when I was coming up so I’m finding it really amazing to see what kids are doing on them these days. Check out this video below to see some stuff that truly defies the laws of physics and makes no sense if you ever tried to do this yourself. Koben spends hours a day practicing these lil’ tricks.
