I’m sort of an all or nothing guy. I’m either all in or all out. When it comes to photography… I’m all out. I’ve just never gotten into it. HOWEVER, I’m getting very interested lately. Mostly because of the new Canon 7d. I’m real interested in shooting video with it. If you are not familiar with it yet, check it out. It’s pretty amazing.
These timescapes time lapses are motivation enough. (not necessarily shot on Canon 7d… Just gets me excited about photography/video in general. Thanks to Mike Zorger for showing me these.) Hoping a Canon 7d appears along my horizon. Christmas is coming soon! ![]()

By the way, wouldn’t these make for some amazing background “loops”?!!!!!
Has anyone bought the Canon 7d yet? What have you heard? What do you think?

ha love the satellite shots, my sister-in-law got one last week— amazing camera, even better with an amazing lens… get one!
Nice. Yeah. Very tempted. Will definitely update if I get one!
my church got one right when it came out. we wanted the benefits of the low available light performance a DSLR can provide when shooting video.
i haven't had a ton of time to test it out yet, but from what i have shot, it's one amazing camera.
it's especially fun shooting in 720p at 60 fps, then slowing the footage down in post to 24 or 30 fps. super smooth slow motion, i love it.
make sure to budget for a good lens, if you can find one that has IS it's even better.
i was shooting with the 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens, and that IS really helps smooth out the shot when hand held.
if you're on a tripod IS isn't as important.
i'm definitely buying one soon. have been wanting one for the last few weeks.
i'm like you…all or nothing…. i've never been into Photography…but i can get into THIS.
mostly wanting to dive in so i can create more loops and VJ content.

Just "regular" footage but looks so good!
I picked one up yesterday and have been blown away. I've never used a DSLR in my life (like you I wanted it for video to go with my other production cameras) and I'm working through the learning curve. But, wow, what great shots it takes. And the DOF is freaking me out it's so good.
THAT'S AWESOME! Thanks for the feed back everyone!
I just got a 7D the other day with a 16-35mm L series lens. Here's my first attempt shooting and editing with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4zyg5_zHBw
Trying not to covet.
Lol, as i started designing more and more, i became interested in photography. I think it goes hand in hand with design. Anyway, im saving up with the money from psdtuts tutorial and christmas money and all to get the canon rebel xs. I really wanna do some slow shutter light graffiti and HDR. Check out caleglendening.com – that guy takes amazing pictures, hes from my town.
We bought 3 Canon 7D cameras to replace an HVX-200 and Letus 35Extreme setup. I'm loving this camera! I can take bright beautiful shots in low light that could never happen with the HVX. The only thing to look out for is camera shake and heating issues. Because it's a small camera, the camera shake looks a lot more unprofessional than with a larger camera. We've found that shooting in 60fps for long periods of time overheats the camera. Overall….an amazing advancement in video!
Great information! Thank you!!!
